Last year we went to Barcelona to see Coldplay. This year we decided to make a tradition out of our combined City Sightseeing / concert experience of our favourite bands or artists.
It has been a long time since Amy MacDonald was on tour and attending one of her shows has always been on Katharina’s bucket list. So when we checked out Amy´s 2017 tour dates we didn’t hesitate to buy tickets for Dublin …
Therefore we kicked off our Easter vacation with a great weekend in beautiful Dublin. On Friday afternoon we strolled around the area North of the Liffey, had a pint (or actually a tasting tray with various types) at one of the great Pubs in Dublin. We chose the Church – as the name tells this has been a Church before it has been turned into a Pub/Restaurant/Bar.
Katharina has been carrying around some flu already the whole week and on Friday it just got worse and worse. So she end up in bed the whole Saturday sleeping and taking pills. Roland used Saturday for a run to get to know a bit of Dublin.
On Sunday Katharina was up for a sightseeing tour with one of the hop-on/hop-off busses. One of the busses had an amazing live narrator/bus driver (“Lisa”) and we got a lot of insights into Dublin, it’s history and culture.
Sunday night was time to get ready for the concert which happily was more or less just around the corner of our hotel. It was a great concert in a great venue – the cosy and very intimate Olympic Theatre!! Here are some pics.
We still have a lot to discover in and around Dublin, so we’ll be back…
